Admissions

Highlands Primary School is a three form entry school, meaning that we admit 90 children in each year group from Reception to Year 6.

In these current times we are unable to carry out tours of the school.  Please see our virtual tour on the website.

We look forward to welcoming visitors to the school again in the future.,

School places from Reception to Year 6 are dealt with by London Borough of Redbridge Primary School Admissions.  Please use the on-line application form provided by London Borough of Redbridge.  We will offer all places in line with the Redbridge Admissions Policy.

If you would like your child to attend our school, please see full details of our admission arrangements below.

Highlands Nursery Admissions

Highlands Primary School has a Nursery accommodating 39 children in both morning and afternoon sessions.

Children are admitted to our Nursery in the academic year of their 4th birthday. All parents are entitled to 15 hours of free Early Years education for their child each week (i.e. 5 sessions of 3 hours/day for 38 weeks). In certain circumstances, parents may be eligible for 30 hours of free Early Years education -  please contact the school office  for more details.

In certain circumstances we can admit children to our Nursery in the school term AFTER their third birthday IF spaces are available.

TO APPLY for a Nursery place for your child, please send an e-mail to nurseryadmissions@highlandsprimary.net with your child’s name and date of birth.  An application form will then be forwarded to you for completion to enable your child to be added to the Waiting List.

Priorities for admission are as follows:

1.       “looked after children” who are in the care of a Local Authority as defined by section 22 of the Children Act 1989 and  are still expected to be in care when due to be admitted to school;

2.       exceptional medical or social reasons, which should be supported by a qualified professional directly involved with child;

3.       siblings with preference to older children according to their date of birth; and

4.       all other applicants with preference to older children.

The statutory right to appeal does not apply to admissions to nursery classes.

Please note,  a place in a nursery class DOES NOT guarantee that your child will be admitted to the main school. You will need to apply again for a place in a Reception class at the appropriate time.
