Computing at Highlands Primary School

Computing Intent

Technology is world-wide and will play a pivotal part in students' lives.  At Highlands, we aim to support our learners for their future by giving them the best opportunities to gain knowledge and develop skills, that will equip them for an evolving digital world. Knowledge and understanding of Computing is vital for children’s future. Therefore, we want to model and educate our pupils on how to use technology positively, responsibly and safely. Our Computing curriculum focuses on a progression of skills in digital literacy, computer science, information technology and online safety. This is to ensure that children become experienced in safely using, as well as understanding, technology. These units of work are revisited frequently through a range of themes during children’s time in Highlands to ensure the learning is embedded and skills are effectively developed. Our intention is that Computing also supports children’s creativity and cross curricular learning to engage children and enrich their experiences in school.
