English learning overview
Good morning Year 5, we hope that you had a well rested weekend! We are now into our third week of the summer term - I can't quite believe how fast the weeks are going!
With the whole school project this week focusing on Black History and the Black Lives Matter movement we wanted to link our English learning to this to give you all the opportunity to use your voice. This week we will be focusing on Rosa Parks, a very important figure who through her actions, really did make a change to the world she lived in. Rosa Parks was known as the 'Mother of the Civil Rights movement', fighting hard for black people to have the same rights as white people in America. She is an incredibly inspiring individual!
Please have a look at the page below entitled 'key vocabulary'. We have selected some key words which may be new to you or you may have heard before which will be important for your learning this week!
Before beginning any of the activities for this week please listen to Miss Constantinou's reading of 'I am Rosa Parks' by Brad Meltzer. This will support you with your learning for this week.
Have a good week of learning and as always please share anything you complete with your teachers via email!
