Intent for Oracy
At Highlands Primary School we want our children to become confident and articulate speakers. Spoken language underpins a child’s development in Reading and Writing but we also recognise the importance that spoken language has in ensuring children’s development across the wider curriculum not only cognitively but also socially and linguistically. It is our aim to provide children with a language rich learning environment which supports development of their vocabulary, comprehension and grammar and also provides them with a variety of opportunities to engage in both exploratory and presentational talk including debates and speech making.
