Reception

...Welcome to Reception...

Our current topic is 'Fantasy World'

This half term the children will be immersed in a ‘Fantasy world’ topic, we will share stories including the ‘Supertato’ series, ‘Superkid’, ‘What Does Daddy Do’, ‘Pirates Love Underpants’, ‘Portside Pirates’, ‘My Granny is a Pirate’, ‘Class Three All At Sea’, ‘The Night Pirates’, ‘Toys in space’ among many more.

We will also be talking about Superheroes who make a difference to our lives everyday i.e. police officers, firemen, doctors and nurses. The children will also be learning more about healthy eating and wellbeing, as well as floating and sinking and how objects move in water. The children will have the opportunity to build their own junk model pirate ship, which they will use to take part in our fantastic finish pirate ship race.

We will be talking about ‘Learning Powers’ with the children in class which are ways to make us better learners, for example by not being afraid to make mistakes or persisting when something is difficult. Each week the children will find out about a new learning power, which we will share with you on Evidence Me.
